At ‘Cats Lair, Wilykit and Wilykat are bored and keep trying to assist the adult Thundercats with tasks around the Lair, but are constantly shut down. The kids then believe that the adults don’t want them there anymore, so they decide to run away. They then head off on their Spaceboards for the Berbil village, to buy some food for themselves. When Robear Bill asks them where they’re going, they lie and say that they’re on a secret mission. The two then go on their way until they come across a range of rocks. They spot a cave and decide to sleep there for the night.
Meanwhile, back at ‘Cats Lair, Snarf is looking for Wilykit and Wilykat to help him cook dinner. When he can’t find them, he asks Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, and Cheetara where they are and none of them have seen them since earlier in the day. When Lion-O tries to use the sword’s sight beyond sight to find the two kids, the sword won’t show him anything. Lion-O then begins to worry and organizes a search team. The ‘Cats all leave in the Thundertank, Hovercat, and Thunderclaw to find the kids.
Meanwhile, back at the cave, the kids have found berries nearby and begin to chow down on them. After eating a few, they start to feel sick and then both pass out. Afterwards, a creature named Kudi arrives and see that the kids are passed out. Turns out that Kudi is the one that lives in the cave and that the kids made their home there while she was away. She quickly makes up some kind of medicine and gives it to the two, reviving them. Kudi then explains that what they were eating were deadly “braxen berries” and that they are lucky to be alive.
Meanwhile, Lion-O and the others spot the kids’ Spaceboards and go in for a look. They then spot the cave and see the runaways talking to Kudi. The kids then tell the story of how Kudi saved their lives and how she’s going to live with them in ‘Cats Lair. Meanwhile, Mumm-Ra has been viewing these events in the cauldron and believes that Kudi could be used to destroy the Thundercats once and for all. Mumm-Ra then decides that he will disguise himself as Kudi in order to sneak into ‘Cats Lair and sabatoge the Thundercats’ home.
Back at the rocks next to Kudi’s cave, Lion-O denies the kids’ request to have Kudi come live with them, stating that Kudi wouldn’t be happy living with the Thundercats and that her place is in her cave. However, he does agree to let the kids bring Kudi over for a visit. The kids then rush off to tell Kudi the good news, but run into Mumm-Ra, disguised as Kudi instead. “Kudi” says that she would LOVE to pay ‘Cats Lair a visit, softly laughing evily to herself.
Back at the Lair, Snarf berates the kids for running away like they did. The kids then apologize for their behavior and request that Snarf get to know Kudi more and become her friend. Snarf isn’t too keen on the idea however, believing that something isn’t quite right with the kids’ new friend.
Snarf then decides to take Kudi on a tour of the Lair. When they reach the control room, the evil Kudi starts messing with a lot of buttons and making the Lair go crazy. Lion-O then runs in to solve the problem and Kudi bolts out of the room. Panthro, Tygra, and Cheetara then run in to ask what the problem is and the three state that they too have been having problems around the Lair.
When they decide to have a meeting in the council chamber, the evil Kudi sneaks into the sword chamber and steals the Sword of Omens. In the council chamber, Snarf states that he believes that Kudi is behind all the problems that have been happening at the Lair. The kids say that is ridiculous, since Kudi is the one that saved their lives. When they get up to go find Kudi, they realize that the council chamber door is sealed shut. Mumm-Ra then sheds his Kudi disguise and fills the council chamber with a poisonous gas, paralyzing all the Thundercats. Mumm-Ra then goes to the control room to destroy all their equipment with the sword. Lion-O then calls the sword to his hand and uses it to blast Mumm-Ra out of the Lair.
Later, at Kudi’s cave, the kids tell the real Kudi of how Mumm-Ra pretended to be her and almost destroyed the Thundercats. Kudi then tells the two to not blame themselves and that from now on, they shouldn’t run away from their problems, and instead to go to the adult ‘Cats when they’re having a problem. Lion-O and Panthro then show up and tell the kids that they’re sorry that the kids were getting ignored and that they want them back
at the Lair, since they’re such a “valuable” part of the team. Such a happy ending…..but a little too “kiddy” for my tastes.
Purrsia's Two Cents:Lots of swell lessons for kids about running away and eating wild berries - and trusting strange cat creatures! A regular cornacopia of values! Seriously, other than the too-easy sword-saves-the-day solution (and wtf, the sword was destroying stuff for Mumm-Ra?? Erm...), it was a decent ep. Gotta love the humor in this ep, too ^_^
Minami Kotaro: Wilykit: "Is there ANYTHING we can do for you, Lion-O?" Lion-O: (stroking his sword) "No ... don't think so." rofl

leppardra: Another "Kat and Kit screw up/Kat and Kit need to be saved" story. Amazing how such cunning youngsters can get into so much deep yogurt. Where was Jaga's wrath when Mumm-Ra was trashing the Lair's control room with the Sword of Omens? This wasn't the best animated story of the series, but it wasn't the worst either. But the biggest animation glitch came at the last scene in Kudi's cave, where the Kittens are talking with her. You hear WilyKat speaking in WilyKit's voice when he says, "Then, somehow, Mumm-Ra found out about you." He then goes back to speaking in his own voice. And the 'Cats still haven't figured out that Mumm-Ra spies on them with his mystic cauldron. Gee, slow learners, aren't they?

leppardra: Oh, yes, and something else. It's interesting that the Sword of Omens's Sight Beyond Sight fails to show Lion-O where the Kittens are. Maybe the Eye was irritated from Lion-O rubbing it with his cloth a little too hard back in his bedroom. Hey, it's just a thought.
