Bob Haney Reviewed by: Purrsia ![]() The ThunderCats discover a huge meteor has entered Third Earth's atmosphere. They are low on Thundrillium, but have just enough power to determine that the meteor is composed of pure Thundrillium and presume that it's likely a chunk of their former home planet, Thundera. They track its course to the little-explored region of Hook Mountain. Lion-O decides that he should go to snowy Hook Mountain alone to try to make allies of the Snowmen as well as retrieve the meteor. Cheetara gives him a red cape to wear to protect against the cold, though I really don't see tha point. Anyway... Snarf decides to follow Lion-O despite being told to park his ass at the Lair. This ends up causing a bit of an avalanche when Lion-O, thinking he's being tailed by some baddie, scares the beejezus outta Snarf. Little did the pair know, but Jackalman was spying on them. The cowardly dog returns to Castle Plundarr to report that the young Lord is up on hostile Hook Mountain alone, save for Snarf. The Mutants can't wait to seize on the opportunity. Slithe and Monkian set off with Vultureman in his Flying Machine. Meanwhile, Lion-O meets up with Snowman astride his companion, Snowmeow. Snowman decides that alliance with the ThunderCats in exchange for the fallen meteor is laughable and he challenges Lion-O to prove his worth in deadly combat. Lion-O takes a few lumps until Jaga appears to hint around about Snowmeow. The proverbial lightbulb pops up over Lion-O's head and he decides to brazenly order the big snow cat to halt. The trick works too well, when Snowmeow freaks out and heads straight for the Bottomless Chasm. Snowman ends up in the pit. While Lion-O shimmies down to rescue Snowman, the Mutants show up. They try to swoop down and snatch the SoO, in the hopes of causing Lion-O to fall to his death in the chasm, but Snowmeow and Snarf fight the good fight. Lion-O makes it out with the Snowman, but the Mutants are still full of fight. Luckily, the Thundertank arrives in time to save the day, thanks to Cheetara's womanly intuition. Vultureman shows up suddenly as a ranking Mutant in this ep, with no explanation. Hmmmm... Lion-O is said to have power over all cats, which is why he was able to command Snowmeow. PKELL: The thing that I will always remember this episode for is that it introduced us to the fourth Mutant, Vultureman. Oddly enough, no explaination is given for his appearance, and unlike the other three mutants, he appears to be the only one of his kind as we never see another Vultureman throughout the series, even though other Monkians, Jackalmen, and Reptilians appear. Even though he doesn't do much in this episode, it was a good debut, and he would only get better with time.

- THe story to this episode is good as well, and we also get introduced to two of The Thundercats' greatest allies, Snowman and Snowmeow. The battle involving Lion-O and Snowman is one of the best fights in the early episodes, and it added alot to this already entertaining episode. Shay Leona: I always thought Snowman's voice was a little off.I can't stand the way he calls Snowmeow. "Snoooooooooooooo MEOw!" Ugh,he kinda sounded like he was talking in one of those japanese movies..Okay, that didn't make any sense. I've commented so much, I don't even know what I'm saying anymore..... Captain Shiner: Vultureman had a different voice actor in his early episodes, a great debut...but how on earth did they contact him on Plun-darr, it was before their ship was raised. leppardra: Another episode I liked a lot. Several things puzzle me though. Why didn't Lion-O and Snarf just leap out of the way of the approaching giant snowball? There was plenty of room for them to jump to one side. And they could have taken shelter from that snow tornado instead of letting it suck them inside it. And I agree it's weird to see VultureMan arrive from nowhere in his flying machine. But I like SnowMan and SnowMeow a lot; they're my favorite ThunderCats allies. I very much enjoy Snarf and SnowMeow battling the flying machine. SnowMeow lands in the snow the way a cat is supposed to land - on all four feet. I always laugh at the scene where SnowMeow licks Snarf while Snarf tries to pull away. leppardra: Another thing puzzles me about SnowMan. He's called the Champion of the SnowMen of Hook Mountain, but you never see any other SnowMen in subsequent episodes. It's always just SnowMan and SnowMeow. Where were the other SnowMen?
