William Overgard Reviewed by: Purrsia  Holy fucked up clunkers, Batman. I mean, this episode...sheesh. Surreal doesn't even begin to describe it. But I'll try anyway. It stats out normal enough. Kit and Kat are swimming, with Kit challenging Kat to a race. Kat mutters something about a storm coming and starts to get out of the water. Kit, thinking he's making excuses, goads him all the more. Then, to Kat's horror, some matter of hideous sea beast rises out of the surf and swallows his sister whole! He runs, and the creature -- which resembles a giant bull frog [ surreal moment #1] -- pursues him. Kat makes it to the Lair in one piece and tells Lion-O in a rush what happened. They head back out together to investigate, and soon come upon the beast sitting in the woods. An amusing debate ensues between the two, as Kat urges Lion-O to blast the thing while Lion-O cautions against just flying off the handle. The debate is cut short as the beast opens its mouth and a short bald man emerges and climbs down. The man sets about laying a picnic blanket and getting out some flowers [surreal moment #2, especially when we find out he 'urgently' needs help]. Kat leaps at the man, demanding to know what happened to Kit. She soon answers that herself, as she explains that the bald man is Dr. Dometone, one of Third Earth's finest thinkers, scientists and gentlemen -- and he desperately needs ThunderCat help. Nevermind that this 'gentleman' had time to stop for a picnic in the woods, and even seemed to be setting a romantic scene before he was interrupted. Gentleman my ass. Pervert. The ThunderCats take the pervy old man into their home anyway, and he explains how the great Oceanic Plug is in jeopardy. You see, a fissure formed on the ocean floor centuries ago, and in the greatest engineering feat of all time, a big fat ole plug was jerry rigged over it to keep the ocean from draining into the fissure [huge, glaring, honking surreal moment]. What's more, if the ocean were to drain into this fissure, it'd put out the fire at the Earth's core, you see, and the Earth would turn into a block of ice. Gotta love Overgardian science. Besides, what does that make the sun? Chopped liver? Well now the plug is threatened by a blue-skinned alien from the planet Blue Plunder named Scrape. Apparently, he wants to harvest a stone his people use to fuel their stuff and so draining the ocean, where this stone is in abundance, is advantageous to him. But bad news for the ThunderCats. Hercules (Herky for short, yuk yuk) and Samson are the big mechanical frogs that protect the plug. Samson already fell pray to Scrape and his electric eel. So Lion-O and the kittens head off with Dometone to see if they can avert disaster. Step one would be keeping the bong away from Overgard...but I digress... Meanwhile, the maintenance crew at the plug are getting restless. They ran out of food a week ago [a week without food...surreal moment # - hell, I lost track!], so two of them decide to try to make a run for supplies despite Scrape lurking around out there somewhere. Of course, their idiot actions give Scrape the opportunity he needs and he breaks inside. Herky arrives, and Dometone worries it's too late. But Lion-O urges him to go on with is plan. Which includes Lion-O and Kat dressing up in shark outfits so they can tie a neutralizing cable around Scrape's eel vessel. That way, the eel can't shock them. How Lion-O manages to whip a lasso around underwater is but another great Overgardian mystery. Scrape's eel is eventually destroyed, but he escapes the ship in a small sub, and heads back to the plug. He also captures Kat along the way. Lion-O decides to summon the others. Scrape gloats to Kat that he's about to move the Oceanic Plug for the first time in 17 centuries! Too bad he didn't get to drain much -- Panthro conveniently encased the plug inside a compressed air bubble and chides him with, "You're an engineer...you can understand that". Panthro, honey, Einstein couldn't understand this episode. The icing on the cake? Panthro uses a vacuum action to suck Scrape and Kat out of the bubble. W...T...F?? There was an amusing dinner scene at the end, though, where Snarf and Kat tease the others, saying they're having fish for dinner -- which causes everyone to throw their plates and glasses at the jokesters. "Unhand me, varmit!" -- Dr. Dometone, sounding like Yosemite Sam, when WilyKat tackled him. "Well bless my britches." - Scrape. comment system disabled temporarily thanks to spam happy assholes!
