Bob Haney Reviewed by Purrsia ![]() A stange man claiming to be Wizz-Ra the Sorcerer has been appearing in Cheetara's mirror at night. When he appears to her a second time, she wonders if she should tell the others but soon decides they'd laugh at her. I don't know about you but if some strange dude was in my mirror watching me sleep, I wouldn't shrug it off! As she falls back asleep, Mumm-Ra the ever-spying plots to strike when next Wizz-Ra appears. For whatever reason, Slithe is with Mumm-Ra in the Pyramid and it is to him that the menacing mummy explains this plot. First, he gives Slithe a history lesson. It seems Wizz-Ra and Mumm-Ra were old enemies, with Wizz-Ra fighting on the side of good. During one fierce battle, Mumm-Ra dealt a mighty blow to Wizz-Ra which also inadvertantly blasted the nose off a nearby Sphinx. The Sphinx's anger fell on the first one she saw, which was a wounded Wizz-Ra, and she exiled him to the 7th Diminsion. Wizz-Ra is only allowed to return once every 7,000 years and the portal from which he must do so is the mirror in Cheetara's room. Mumm-Ra's main interest in Wizz-Ra isn't the chance to have a rematch with his old enemy. Rather, Mumm-Ra would love to get his bony mitts on the Enchanted Golden Helmet that adorns Wizz-Ra's bald head. This helmet is not just a snazzy accessory - nope, it has the power to control minds! Hence, Mumm-Ra plans to steal the Helmet. He enlists the help of a cheetah statue that he animates to do his bidding. Sending the creature off, if creeps into Cheetara's room and possesses her. When Wizz-Ra appears again, he emerges from the mirror expecting to meet Cheetara. Instead, the cheetah bursts forth from her limp body and takes the wizard by surprise - and just long enough to make off with the helmet. Wizz-Ra tries to pursue, but is stymied by Snarf and Lion-O in the Lair hallway. They soon form an alliance to get the helmet back, as well as hope to free Cheetara from the trance spell she's under. Unfortunately, the helmet falls into Mumm-Ra's hands. Slithe worries that Wizz-Ra will easily be able to get it back but Mumm-Ra assures him that he's only one day to try. He even uses the Vulture King statue like a sundial of sorts, noting that when the beam of morning sunlight goes from one of the statue's eyes to the other, Wizz-Ra's time is up. Besides, the wizard's powers weaken the more they're used and Mumm-Ra has plans to keep him busy. Lion-O is the first to fall victim to the helmet's power, but he manages to get the signal off before he gives in completely. Mumm-Ra's first order to Lion-O is to throw the Sword into the Desert of Sinking Sands where it sinks out of sight. Cleverly, Mumm-Ra commands his new stooge to attack Wizz-Ra and continues this pattern as more ThunderCats show up only to fall victim to the helmet. With the ThunderCats enslaved and Wizz-Ra weakened, Mumm-Ra feels confident he's won this time. The day almost over, Wizz-Ra and Snarf return to the Lair. To their surprise, Cheetara greets them. It seems Mumm-Ra relaxed his powers, and the chance was open for them to strike back. Returning to the Pyramid, Cheetara breezes by and uses her staff to move the Vulture King statue (since none of the good guys were in the Pyramid when Mumm-Ra explained the significance of the beam, I have to wonder how she knew to do that). Mumm-Ra, thinking Wizz-Ra can't possibly be around anymore, can't wait to take off the 'heavy' helmet. Snarf grabs the helmet, gives it back to Wizz-Ra and he releases the ThunderCats from Mumm-Ra's mind hold on them. The battle over, Wizz-Ra is in danger of dying in the current diminsion as his time is for real quite short. Cheetara uses her super speed to get him back to the mirror in time, though they do take a moment to have a sentimental farewell. Of course, there's still the matter of the Sword. Back at the Desert, Snarf worries it's gone for good only to have Tygra assure him good is not that easily defeated. Sure enough, Lion-O calls to the Sword and it emerges. "By the power of Jaga, Sword of Omens come to my hand. I, Lion-O, Lord of the ThunderCats, command it." - Lion-O, fetching the Sword from the Sands. Since Mumm-Ra and Wizz-Ra are old enemies, and Wizz-Ra had to wait 7,000 years to reappear on Third Earth, it stands to reason Mumm-Ra is at least that old. comment system disabled temporarily thanks to spam happy assholes!
