Sandy Fries Reviewed by: Purrsia  Lion-O and Snarf are at the Lair, and pick up on a suspicious Lunatak transmission of Alluro and Chilla discussing the Treasure of Thundera and how they've hidden it in the Crystal Canyon. Lion-O's first instinct is to rush off to recover it. Although, he doesn't have much of a crew given most of the 'Cats are up on New Thundera. Tygra and Lynx-O are summoned to join them in the Thunderstrike as they investigate. Lynx-O knows the regular crystal pattern leads to a cavern that houses the Key Stone, a source of pure energy. As they fly in farther into the canyon, they spot Alluro and Chilla - many of them, in fact. They're using reflections to confuse the Thundercats, and even Lynx-O's braille board is thwarted. Alluro throws a hypnotic orb above the Thunderstrike to subdue the 'Cats. Eventually, the Lunies manage to cause the 'Strike to crash horrifically. And then instead of finishing them off, leave them there with their injuries. Lion-O is gravely injured and unconscious. Lynx-O has hurt his legs and can't really move much. So he sends Tygra and Snarf off, the least injured of the bunch, to get the Keystone in the hopes its energy heals Lion-O and maybe even re-power the ThunderStrike. After Snarf nearly gets them cut to bits inside the cave with his big mouth, Tygra finds the Keystone. Once he touches it, he falls in love with the surge of energy it provides and nearly forgets Lion-O needs its power until Snarf reminds him. And the addiction begins! The Keystone does heal them all and fix the Thunderstrike. However, Jaga appears to warn Lion-O that the stone causes its owner to become dependent on it until it ultimately destroys him. Lion-O tries to toss the stone away, but Tygra goes after it. He's already more or less addicted to its power. Back at the Lair, Tygra acts like he's on speed - running about fixing things and bellowing about how confident he is. When Lion-O and Lynx-O confront him about his odd behavior, Tygra accuses them of being jealous and explains how the Keystone brings him out of his shell - he won't give it up. As days go on, Tygra's energy is boundless and it begins to show as he loses weight and dark circles form under his eyes. He continues to convince himself the others are just jealous, not concerned. And he repeats the addict mantra that he doesn't "need" the keystone. Later, the Berbils are under attack by Alluro, and it's Tygra and the Keystone to the rescue before Lion-O can arrive. At first, it appears he'll triumph. But Alluro easily tricks the now over-confident Tygra and knocks the Keystone out of his reach. Without it, Tygra is reduced to a groveling wuss. Alluro takes the Keystone for himself and forces Lynx-O and Lion-O to come with him back to Sky Tomb. Lion-O, however, manages to fight Alluro's hypnotic power long enough to get the cat signal in the air. Alluro laughs it off at first, knowing the others are off on New Thundera and only the feeble Tygra is left standing. Only - he's not so feeble. The power of the Eye cured him, *of course*. Tygra takes on Alluro and wins when the Lunie - now addicted himself to the Keystone - tumbles into a cravass to go after a shard of the crystal. In an instant, he's redeemed and back to normal. Gotta love your tidy endings. And did you know there's such a thing as Snarf nip? "See how the crystals make random patterns?" - Lynx-O, who actually can't see shit. Ironic. "That's good night and thank you, Thundercats." - Alluro. Lynx-O: "Lion-O is right, Tygra. You're slowly becoming a slave to the Keystone." Tygra: "A slave? Ha! Is Lion-O a slave to the Sword of Omens?" For those into counting things and useless trivia, this is the second time Tygra has been cast as the drug addicted patsy. The first was in "Garden of Delights". This episode establishes that one of Tygra's personality traits is shyness.
