[drnixon] hi
Purrsia> hello!
[Servali] Hello, Peter!
[Tatiana] Hi Peter!!
[hyenaboy] reetings.
Purrsia> you made it! :)
[Quint] classified.. if you knew my standard Tcat handIe. well, that'd make it too easy
[Snarfykins] Hi Peter!
[Quint] Welcome

>> Myra has joined channel #ThundercatChat

[hyenaboy] ::snorts::
[Snarfykins] Hi Myra!
[Servali] Hello, Myra
[Tatiana] Hi Myra
[Myra] hello everybody!!
[Peter] Sorry I'm late. I hate AOL and then could get into the #$@## pyramid

[hyenaboy] WB. Welcome to the den of insanity, Peter.
[Myra] Heh Sorry pc crashed, lol
Purrsia> LOL
[Servali] hehe, AOHell is against everyone, Peter
[Tatiana] We're just glad you made it.
[Snarfykins] Oh dear! But at least you made it ok.
[hyenaboy] AOHell torments me everyday, don’t worry about it.
Purrsia> well, you made it at least ... and I do so exist! lol
[Peter] I'm here. Everything fine. Fire away- and, by the way, really appreciate your interest

[Snarfykins] :: give s AOL a swift kick:: Work proper, darn you!
Purrsia> np, peter. ThunderCats is still the best cartoon ... um ... ever!
[hyenaboy] I have a warning. I;m know as the Typo King. So don;t expect a whole lof of legiibility from me
Purrsia> you don't say, A] lol
[hyenaboy] Er, yeah.
[Myra] true
[hyenaboy] or type, either, hehe
[Myra] lol
[Peter] Well, I've been speaking with Masaki (Pacific Animaton) and Arthur Rankin ... seeing if we can at least
produce a handful of T'Cat revivals - movie length

[Servali] Oooh, that's got my attention!
[Tatiana] Yay! What are they saying?
[hyenaboy] Okay, I have a question, Mr. Lawerence. (Oooo cool)
[Snarfykins] 00hh....
Purrsia> well, the first thing I want to ask you peter, is this ... do you mind if I paste this chat conversation onto my webpage?
[Myra] me too! lol
Purrsia> wow! I'd love to see that
[Snarfykins] It would be so great to see them back onscreen.:)
[drnixon] I'm not sure if you can copy from this chatroom
[hyenaboy] Boy, wouldn't it?
[Peter] No. Welcome. Go ahead - as long as you know anything I say preps me. Not Lion-O. Nor Rankin. Nor Warners and blahblahblah

[hyenaboy] Anyway, I was wondering whose idea the Snarfs were...
[hyenaboy] Ahh, standard butt-covering disclaimer
Purrsia> cool
Purrsia> LOL
[Snarfykins] Mr. Larence - if they do bring back the Thundercats, will they all be the same age, or will they be older, do you know?
[Peter] Snarf was invented by Jules Bass. Unfortunately, I wrote a lot of his stuff. the best of his stuff, naturally ... snarf, snarf

[Snarfykins] EEM Snarfs! :)
[Tatiana] Lee Dannacher said she would be interested in working on a new ThunderCat project. :)
[Quint] heh
[Peter] Not butt covering. Just straight. Who knows what those guys think.

[drnixon]] why did he make them?
Purrsia> lol
[hyenaboy] LOL Augh. Well be consoled by the fact that the Snarf even now continue to strike terror into the hearts of fans
[Peter] Why did who make what?

[hyenaboy] Ahh tru
[drnixon] the snarfs
[Snarfykins] I love the snarfs ... they're cute!:)
[Peter] Bass invented Snarf because he wanted light relief and, as he said, everyone loves some kind of whacko animal.

[hyenaboy]::shudders:: Well hey, all shows need comic relief, Cool. Were you with the show through to its conclusion?
Purrsia> crap, you can't paste from this chat doc...~grumbles~
[hyenaboy] LOL! True enough
[Tatiana] We've all said that he's the comic relief of tcats.
[Peter] Yeah. From episode #4, around there, to the bitter end.

Purrsia> bitter? heh heh
[Snarfykins] And he makes an adorable comic relief (do I obsess enough, or what?) )
[hyenaboy] ::grin: Cool.
Purrsia> yeah, we can't tell you love snarves, snarfykins:p
{Snarfykins} > ;-) ::beams::
[hyenaboy] I HAVE to ask. Why Circus Train???
[hyenaboy] LOL
[Peter] As in figure of speech. Actually, we had finished the 65 SilverHawks before we made the final 40-odd T/Cats and bv then evefrvone was ratty

Purrsia> LOL
[Snarfykins] ::LOL::
[hyenaboy] Wow ... that's a lot of eps.
[Tatiana] That explains the fourth season! Hee hee L
Purrsia> fair enough ... it's just the fouth season can be rather imfamous among the fandom lol
[Peter] Plus we had all those licensing guys jumping into the pool

[hyenaboy] What do you mena?
Purrsia> as in toys marketing an d stuff ?
[hyenaboy]::knows little to nothing of televions production::
[Peter] Had to add characters and "stuff" they could sell

Purrsia> riiight
[hyenaboy] Ahhh Case in point the Berzerkers.
Purrsia> LOL
[Snarfykins]::shudder::
[Tatiana] like Pumyra ::snickers::
[Quint] Was there ever a notion or idea for possibly keeping the series ? running along a somewhat linear footing.. time wise, I mean ?
[Snarfykins] Poor Pumyra...
[hyenaboy] Lynx-O was the best.
[Tatiana] Sorry, I had to say that.
[Peter] When we began, it was all quite innocent. By the end, the marketing tail wagged the Cat - and now it's almost impossible to get anything happening without a huge toy deal

Purrsia> capitalism at its worst then haha
[Snarfykins] But what wuld be wrong with tthat thoiugh?
[hyenaboy] Boy, I can understand that! Harry Potter seems to have gottn into that habit.
Purrsia> roger that!
[Peter] Not possible to run things linear on account of the throughput and the uncertainty of when each episode would be delivered. the 5-parters were as close as we could get.

[hyenaboy] nOthing hugrly wrong, in my opinion. but it can kinda cheapn a goosd show or wtory idea.
[drnixon] was the last episode of liono's annointment trials meant to be the last episode of the series?
[hyenaboy] That would make it a pretty short run.
Purrsia> I always thought maybe "The Last Day" was meant to end the series?
[Servali] I was always under the impression that "The Last Day" was meant to be the end of the series, but marketing forced them into making more eps
Purrsia> jinx ;)
[Peter] Be honest I can't remember ... seems logical that Lion-O finally being crowned should have wrapped it all up
[Quint] Out of curiosity, what was the approx. production time per episode ?
[Servali] stop that Purrsia, no jinxing tonight
[drnixon] it just seemed like murnmra's defeat was very final in that series
[hyenaboy] ::unjinxes yo u::
[Servali] :p
[Tatiana] So by the end of the anointment trials, would you say that Lion-O was mentally mature?

>> Madras has joined channel #ThundercatChat

[hyenaboy]:snort: I wouldn't...
[Servali] hello, Madras!
[Myra] lol
Purrsia> heehee and hello
[Myra] hello
[Madras] Hello
[hyenaboy] BTW Mr Lawrence, thanks for joininq us. its not often we qet to pester people that actually worked on the show.
[Snarfykins] HI Madras
[hyenaboy] greetings
[Peter] Hard to say. At the peak, I was finishing 4 scripts a week. I guess the overall turnaround- may have been 4-6 months - but it depended on the individual studios

[Madras] Hi there
[hyenaboy] Television production sure can get complicated.
[Quint] wow.. upward s of 4 scripts a week
Purrsia> So, Peter ... what other projects besides Tcats have you done? and are you still writing?
[Peter] Not pestering. I'm very happy to do this. As I said to Tatiana, T/Cats I was good to me. I enjoyed a lot of my time there in NY and on Thundera.

[Servali] hehe
[Madras] Oh, hello there, Peter
Purrsia> awesome! :)
[Madras] Is this a moderated chat?
[hyenaboy]::grin:: We enjoy time on Thundera too heh heh. hell, most of us write fanfiction.
[hyenaboy] Er. I dont' think it is moderated.
[Snarfykins] And some of us draw for fiction.
[hyenaboy] That too.
[Servali] or act out our lives in roleplaying games on message boards
Purrsia> yup
[Myra] yup
Purrsia> all of the above lol
[Quint] open forum like this is unmoderated.

>> LadyThundera has joined channel #ThundercatChat

[hyenaboy] LOL Dont scare everyone now.
[drnixon] hi It
[Snarfykins] LT!! :D
[Madras] Hello
[Quint] Welcome LT
[Tatiana] My sister!!
Purrsia> hi LT
[LadyThundera] Hello
[Servali] Hello, lady Thundera
[Myra] hi
[Peter] I went on to SilverHawks, Comic Strip (yeuchhh) Fox's Peter pan & The Pirates and The Real Adventures Of Jonny Quest. That last ended in a big fight with the studio and I went entirely independent. Have a movie in production and another in pre-produciton - both animated. And a live aciton move in pre, too. So, still writing. And books, too

Purrsia> that's great! :)
[hyenaboy] Dang, you;re a busy man. You worked on Peter pan and the Pirates?? That's another of my favorite shows!
[Snarfykins] Oh? Would it be a littel too personal to ask what movies you have in store for us?
[Tatiana] Wow! CN's best schedule at one point was showing, RA of Jonny Quest Tcats, then Silverhawks. Isn't that cool?
Purrsia> so now I have to ask .... do you spend anytime on the various Tcat fan sites? and have you ever read any of the Tcatfan fics out there?
[hyenaboy] RA?
[Peter] I loved PP & TP. Especially Hook - I had the greatest kick inventing him

[Madras] Oh? The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest? Wow
[Servali] RA -real adventures, Al/hyenaboy
[hyenaboy] LOL Hoo kwas great. Did Tim Curry do his voice?
[hyenaboy] Ahh
[Madras] So, umm...just ask questions?
Purrsia> yeah ... pretty, much lol
[Quint] LOL You did a fantastic job on Capt. Hook.. I love well rounded and learned villians
[hyenaboy] Yep, Mr. Lawrence said we can pepper him with questions.
[Tatiana] I'm qlad to see I'm not the only Peter Pan fan here.:)
[LadyThundera] We alI are. Hee. Hee.
[hyenaboy] Peter Pan has always been one of my favorite fiction characters.
[Peter] The first of those movies - animated - is GLOBI & THE STOLEN SHADOWS, based on a Swiss comic book(!) the second is THE WAY FO THE CAT. My own idea. And, despite "CAT" not anything to do with T/Cats.

[Servali] hehe, Peter Pan and the Pirates was a good show, from what I can remember, lol
[Madras] I've talked in these kind of chats before ... and it's always been moderated. This is a cool way to do it,)
Purrsia> that doesn't surprise me, Al lol
[hyenaboy] LOL That'd be awesome. Sounds cool either way though
[Snarfykins] I like PP and TP better than Disney's version.:)
[Tatiana] Yeah!
[hyenaboy] Oh, l;m Al BTW ... forgot polite introductions. I like hyenas in case ya couldn, ttell.
[Peter] No. This is my first time in one of these sights. Never read the fanfic

Purrsia> so, Peter ... what's was the deal with the Psych consultant on Tcats? heehee
[Peter] Man, I can't keep up. Yeah, Tim Curry did Hook. Brill.

[hyenaboy] There's tons of them out there heh heh
Purrsia> well, there are some qreatfics out there of all sorts ... it's amazinq some of their authors aren't professional :)
[hyenaboy] Thanks. Sorry,.we get over eager
[Myra] lol
Purrsia> yeah, lol
[Servali] overeager is a bit of an understatement Al, lol
[hyenaboy] Well I;m just hyper.
Purrsia> ~note to self ... calm the hell down!!~ :p
[Peter] The psych consultant was in place before I arrived and I guess he was designed to end run the Parental Control Groups which were very vocal about kids TV. Amazing when you think of the crap people can get away with now

[Servali] hehe
Purrsia> no kidding, that's kinda funny!
[LadyThundera] From the looks of cartoons now, it makes you wonder if they have any.
[hyenaboy] Oh, so he was there to make sure nothing "traumatizing" or "inappropriate" got onto the show?
[Peter] As to "professional," believe me, a lot of the "pro writers" are useless. We had the greatest success with first-timers - or people who really were into the writing

[hyenaboy] If you enjoy what you do, it's usually pretty good, even if you;re professional
[Tatiana] That's cooI
Purrsia> yeah, I agree. The best fics I've read are by the folks who are very passionate about what they write.
[Peter] Yeah (hyenab.) that's the general idea. Try and do something pro-active. You know, every show goes through a Broadcast Standards committee. A kinda censor.

[Servali] wow, maybe some of us should send in some material if any new shows of Tcats becomes a reality, then, hehe
[drnixon] i'd write an ep or two if they'd I et m e
[Snarfykins] With certain limits, of course
[Peter] If there are any new shows - and IF I get to run them, you're welcome.

[Quint] Hmm.. well, unfortunately, I take my leave of this place for a short bit duty calls. Mr. Lawerance, it's been both an honor and a pleasure to speak with you. I do thankyou for the privilage.
[hyenaboy] Did you guys write anyhting that they did not let pass?
Purrsia> oh boy, I wouldn't go there Servali ... at least not me personally lol. It'd be too weird:p
[hyenaboy] Cool. Nice meeting ya, Quint!
[Peter] Welcome. Pleaxed to do it

[Tatiana] I know Kimberly Morris wrote an ep that wasnt approved.
[Servali] take care, Quint

>> Quint has left channel #ThundercatChat

[hyenaboy] Which eps did she do?
[Madras] Gosh, I'm just awestruck ... I can't beIieve it's actually the man himself. I don't know what to ask,)
[LadyThundera] Goodbye Jaga
[Tatiana] Yeah, that's the one that wasn't approved. Thanks, LT
Purrsia> heehee, just go nuts madras lol
[hyenaboy] Oh that was its name? Why wasn;t it approved?
[Peter] Yeah. We had a few which never made it through the whole process. I don't remember her episode but she's very talented and more energy than a nuke power station. thanks for getting us back in touch!

[Myra] well hate to luv and leave everyone, buts its getting on for three in the morn over here in the uk, i should get to bed really lol
[Servali] or think calmly, Madras, I'm sure something will come to you
[hyenaboy] LOL Nice seein ya, Myra:)
[Tatiana] You're welcome!:)
[Madras] I had a number of questions lined up before I got here. Now I just forgotten them all
[Servali] Take care, Myra
[LadyThundera] Have a good night or er morning, Myra.
[Tatiana] She wrote Telepathy Beam and Mad Bubbler and a few others.
[hyenaboy] SHould have written them down
[Servali] Frogman, too, I think
Purrsia> I think she did Mossland Monster too .... I think
[LadyThundera] The Trouble with Thunderkittens.
[hyenaboy] Bubbler. That was just ... weird.
[Myra] nice to meet ya mr lawernce, hope to chat to chat with ya again
[Peter] UK? Dang!

[Tatiana] i know
[Myra] lol
[LadyThundera] No, that was Chris Trengrove Purrsia.
[hyenaboy] AN Thats what I though! I knew IA done one of her eps in my ep guide.
[Peter] That's dedication

[Servali] you've got some devoted fans, Peter, from all over
[Madras] Ok, I'll ask something nostalgic ... Pete, did you have any sav characters on the show? big fan over here
[Snarfykins] Takes a Hacker to know a Hacker...
Purrsia> bye myra
[hyenaboy] No, it was a woman that did Thunderkittens, at least according to the thing before the ep starts.
[LadyThundera] Fan s are alI over the pIace.
[Myra] ctach ya all later!

>> Myra has left channel #ThundercatChat

[hyenaboy] LOL Yeh I know a TCat fan in Mexico, and a couple in Greece, even.
[Peter] No favorites really -maybe Panthro ... Vultureman (he was so whacked) and, of course, I loved to write Mumm-ra.
[Servali] and growing, Purrsia's getting her son into Tcats, and I'm letting my niece and nephews view my vids of them, hehe... the next generation of Tcat fandom, lol
[drnixon] me too!
[LadyThundera] Panthro is just cool!
[hyenaboy] WHERE did VMan come from? He jsut kind of ... appeared one episode!
[drnixon] mummra is the best hands down
Purrsia> I've got some comical screen captures of Vultureman .... he made the funniest faces lol
[hyenaboy] Naah I like Safari joe.
[hyenaboy] And Alluro Tygra, Alluro, Vultureman, and Za)CK are my faves, lol
[hyenaboy] Oh, and Mittens, ya forgot to attach a file to the Email ya sent...
Purrsia> I'm a Lion-O devotee ... you betcha!
[Tatiana] There's a scene in Sixth Sense where Vultureman holds Slithe's hand. LOL
[Peter] I was in a plane to Colombia one time. Kid in front of me - musta been hyperactive. Suddenely, he leaps over the back of the seat and yells at me (in broken English) Tunder Tunder TunderCat Ho! For sure, he had no idea who I was.

[hyenaboy] lol
[hyenaboy] LOL That's cool!
[Peter] Yeah ... well who knows with those Vultures?

Purrsia> sounds like my son lol
[LadyThundera] Hee. Hee.
[Tatiana] My daughter is doing that now..:)
[Madras] How'd you feel when the series finally had to come to an end?
[hyenaboy] I dont have kids. I AM one ... heheh Peter Pan, ya know.
[LadyThundera] And driving someone crazy right Tatiana? Hee. Hee.
[Peter] I did try to slip a few sly nudges in here and there. More in S/Hawks.

[hyenaboy] Sly nudges of what?
[Tatiana] Yes, LT.::grins::
[Peter] When it ended, it was time. I fought very hard to do a T/Cats movie -low budget. Story-based. No over-reliance of effects. Etc. Couldn't get arrested.

[LadyThundera] Rats. I wish it was made.
Purrsia> yeah, me too!
[Tatiana] I hope they'll do a movie now
[LadyThundera] Do you think you can tell us the storyline?
[hyenaboy] That would have ben cool!
Purrsia> i was just gonna ask that LT LOL
[Peter] I'm sure someone at Warners will wake up to the fact that there are so many fans out there. They'll come up with some megazillion dollar movie ... written by one of the A-team ... maybe it will work. Maybe no. They messed up with J Quest - which has got to be one of the biggest fanbases ever

[Snarfykins] God, I hope they don;t mess it up
[Peter] Storyline? We didn't even get that far. Just a few ideas knocked around.

[Tatiana] They should contact me and LTI We'll tell them what to do. Heh
[Servali] hehehe
[hyenaboy] We should all sent a petition saying we want a movie heh heh
[Peter] Why don't you contact them? Ya never know!

Purrsia> LOL
[LadyThundera] You got that right Tatiana!
Purrsia> yeah, let this whole group have a go at it lol
[hyenaboy] It shuld be a paper one, though. Like mail it to everyone to sign. lol Keep copies.
Purrsia> I bet we could actually come up with somethinq really qreat combining all our talents and such
[Tatiana] We should contact them. Now all we have to do is find an email.
[Peter] Why not?

[Servali] sheesh, imagine the size of that petition, though, once it gets around.... from here to the UK and Canada and Mexico and France...
[LadyThundera] Okay, email address?
[Madras] Oh, there are outtakes of the show going around the 'net and no one knows exactly where they came from. Can you possibly clear up this mystery? :)
[hyenaboy] Nice question!
[Tatiana] Yeah, but no Cheetara with Tygra. Yuck!
[LadyThundera] Very good one.
[hyenaboy] Who are ya BTW, Madras?
[LadyThundera] You got that right TA!
[Snarfykins] Aw, but I like them togethre
Purrsia> nice one madras!
[LadyThundera] Lion-O and Cheetara!
[Peter] Outtakes? No idea. It's not likely that they're genuine, tho

[hyenaboy] Yeah, and you like Snarf. Byt anwyays.
[drnixon] cheetara and tygra
[drnixon] perfect to gether
[hyenaboy] I dunno Mr Lawrence, They sound pretty qenuine.
[hyenaboy] ;)
[LadyThundera] Don’t start with me on that one.
Purrsia> boy, they sound so much like the real voices though ... either way the outtakes are funny as hell
[Snarfykins] And what's wrong with liking snarf?
[Tatiana] If it was up to you, nixon, you would put tygra and lion-O together. So you don't get a say.
[Servali] LOL
[Peter] Voice outtakes? Or pics?

[Madras] Just a Iurke r on the site
[drnixon] and why don't i get a say?
[hyenaboy] Anyway. Back to the subject at hand.:)
[Madras] Voice outtake s
[hyenaboy] Voice outtakes.
[hyenaboy] Cool. Madras.
[drnixon] Last time I checked you don't run the fandom
[Servali] I see an echo, lol
[Tatiana] Yeah, but I dont' write wierd fics either
Purrsia> heehee
[Peter] I gues that's easily explained. the actos all goofed around and the tapes kept rolling. Probably one of hte engineers dumped them on the net

Purrsia> so you've never heard them?
[drnixon] yes, my 'weird fics' of course...
[hyenaboy] LOI That's possible. There’s one of everonye cussin in their character voices, and some of some mess-ups.
[Madras] They were hiIarious.
[drnixon] humerous, yes
[Servali] It's "'very* weird to hear a Snarf cussing ........................... .. 0
[hyenaboy] LOL
Purrsia> I laughed so hard at the one where Lion-O tells snarf "shut up you F:"%#" like we all haven' t wanted to say that! LOL
[Peter] You know, when the show was in production, we had some pretty wild riffs - but by and large, I kept away from the studio. I just had too much writing to do and when that was over I liked to head on upstate and hang with non entertainment types

[hyenaboy] LOL
Purrsia> I literally fell off my chair with that lol
[Madras] Anyway, how does it feel to still have a plethora of devoted fans of the show, even after all this time?
[Peter] It's great - and very surprising. Humbling, actually

[hyenaboy] I bet ya did. As a writer, did you even need to be in the studio much?
[hyenaboy] hey, when something's good, it lasts, even if the show itself doesn;t.
[Peter] No. i tried to keep outta the studio. There were times I hated the voices and the interpretations of the lines. Inevitable. That's why I directed the JQ tracks

Purrsia> I still get odd looks from my husband though for being 27 and still digging a cartoon lol. his loss though,:)
[hyenaboy] Ahhhh That does make sense.
[hyenaboy] lol
[Servali] Mainly the show still has a fandom because the show had memorable characters who overall had good personalities
[hyenaboy] I do have a huge question for ya though, mr Lawrence.
[Madras] How long did it usually take to complete an episode?
[Peter] H/Boy? What question?

[hyenaboy] Did you know William Overgard very well?
[hyenaboy] Well that's not the question, but it leads up to it.
[Tatiana] oh boy
[drnixon] heheh
[Peter] Yeah. We became very close. He turned into my older brother.

[hyenaboy]:oh cool. Then ya might be able to answer ... WHERE he got his very ... odd ideas, and why ... why Circus Train?
[hyenaboy]:Although i did like mandora a lot.
Purrsia> only you could ask that All lol

[hyenaboy]:WB
[Tatiana] wb
Purrsia> didn't like mandora, but I though hachiman was kool lol
[Servali] wb
[Quint] Danka
[LT] Sorry about that. I got disconnected and my brother was pestering me.
[Snarfykins] hi quint
[Peter] Bill was a total original. So was his wife. He wrote some great books and very imaginative screenplays. Who knows where that kind of a talent finds his ideas -but he sure opened up my head.

[drnixon] would you say his ideas were a bit ecentric?
[hyenaboy]:He was defintiely original. The breathing in space thing was kind of odd, but he was defintiely original
[Tatiana] good grief
Purrsia> His ideas as a whole were often good, but from a fans point of view, he did insert some odd stuff in his eps lol
[Madras] His episodes were some of the most entertaining:?)
[Madras] Circu s Train was so fu to watch
[hyenaboy]:Fireballs of PLundaar rocked thouqh.
[LT] Ilike Jade Dragon.
[Tatiana] I like Sword in a Hole:)
[LT] I like Fireballs of Pludarr too.

>> ISmith7O has joined channel #ThundercatChat

Purrsia> this is true.. ... I really like Sword in the Hole despite the breathing in space bit lol
[LT] That too!
[Snarfykins] Hi Ian
[Servali] Fireballs of Plun-Darr was a great. ep
[LT] Hello
[Peter] He was an original. That's all. His own man. And Gloria was the perfect match for him. They just cooked with gas. All the time. In everything they did. Funny. Good people

Purrsia> or hole, rather::p
[Servali] hello, ISmith
[ISmith7O] Hell everyone. :.) And say hello to Laura~ too. She's sitting next to me.
[drnixon] i can understand that
[Peter] Maybe the only writer I really liked! Except for my long term buddy Chris Trengove.

[Snarfykins] Aw
[hyenaboy]::: Iaughs:: We I i gotta aqree with that:)
[ISmith7O] Ooops! I meant "hello"
[Snarfykins] Hi Laura!
[hyenaboy]:That's cool. Don’t recognize the Tenbtrove name though
[Peter] Hi

[Tatiana] Trengove was a wonderful writer!
[Tatiana] I know he also wrote PP&TP eps too.
Purrsia> I recognize the name, but can't think of any eps he wrote....heehee
[hyenaboy]:Cool! What TCats eps did he write?
[Peter] He still writes. occasionally we work together. We have a movie maybe sold right now

[Servali] ditto, Purssia
[hyenaboy]:H ey, co n g rats o n th at!
[LT] Cat Fight
[hyenaboy]:Ahhh OK Cool
[Servali] congrats on that
[LT] Mossland Monster.
[Quint] hehe.. all time fav
Purrsia> Ooh Cat Fight was uh..catty lol
[Madras] A movie?
[Snarfykins] Loved Cat Fight
[hyenaboy]:Who came up with the Lunatatck? They’re the best
[Peter] I can't remember the specifics ... too lonq aqo and now list in front of me.
<
[ISmith7O] 1 have a couple question I'd like to ask, but I don't know if they might have been answered already.
[Peter] Go ah e ad

[hyenaboy]:Wish this blasted chat room was bigger, Ah well.
[Snarfykins] It's what yu get for Parachat
Purrsia> me too ... roger that lol
[hyenaboy] I'm getting claustrophobic in this chatroom :p
[ISmith7O] With the new He-Man toys coming out and Rankin-Bass recently having made a new Xmas special, has there been any serious talk of late on doing a new Thundercats show? And if so, do you think it would be more like today's action cartoons (Batman, Justice League, Gargoyles, et al)?
[LT] I love those cartoons.
[Snarfykins] same here
[Servali] ditto
[Peter] Good question. I said earlier that Pacific Animation and I are talking to Arthur Rankin about maybe doing some T/Cat TV movies. The question is whether to go with identical designs or re-up them. My preference would be to have Takashi run a new eye over them ... to make them hipper ... cooler...and, of course, the animation would be at least Home Video quality.
[Peter] You could ask Lee Dannacher the same question. She's in contact – closer than I -with Rankin.

Purrsia> sounds good to me, lol. I'll take what I can get.. ... :p
[LT] Me, too.

[drnixon] wb
[Peter] Course ... mention Takashi to Lee and you'll probably burn lut your mother board

[hyenaboy]] Ack, i got disconnected!
[hyenaboy] Rats.
[Servali] wb
[Snarfykins] The only thing with the animation is that I would hope that they wouldn't make it too far from the original concepts. Servalil hehe
[Quint] I~ipper.. hmm.. not CGI'ed to death like some current re-releases I hope
Purrsia> so not only could you rope a new generation into the madness with a movie, but us old fans would be all for it as well:)
[hyenaboy] That's what I was gonna say. it
[Snarfykins] And no anime like the sailor Moon stuff
[Peter] No. Not CGI. I'm talking design.

[hyenaboy] yeah, when peple try to tchange a classic TOO much, they end up sometimes ruining it.
[ISmith7O] That sounds good ... either that or a sequel would be fine with me. Also hope they'll be able to tell some more sophisticated stotrylines!:)
Purrsia> hey, SM is kool :?) I like big anime eyes, although they wouldn't do much for Lion-O lol

>> Altaica has joined channel #ThundercatChat

[Servali] hello, Altaica!
[hyenaboy] I wouldnt mind seeing the "next generation" of TCats, myself.
[Altaica] Hi there.
[Servali] A next gen would be interesting, to say the least hehe
[hyenaboy] Hell. they did it with Star Tek!
[Peter] The question of redeveloping the show will revolve around the audience. Is it for the same age audience as the original? Or are we doing something for kids AND their parents?

[hyenaboy] LOL probably the latter, Mr Lawrence.
[LT] Good question.
[Snarfykins] Purrsia - It's not that I dont like sailor Moon, I just wouldn't want to see Thundercats reach that level
[Quint] The Iatter.. definately
[Servali] I'd venture to quess for the kids and the parents, these days
[Servali] since I'd proly be watching it right along with my neice and nephews, lol
[Tatiana] tigra rocks
[ISmith7O] I think the latter would be a good approach, as kids these days seem to be a lot more aware than they might have been 15 years ago.
[hyenaboy] I read once about Disney movies that they try to appeal to adults AND kids. The kdis like the fun stuff and the adventure, but there's stuff in the movies that only adults would understand, too.
[Snarfykins] Yah, Tygra!
[Tatiana] my dumb husband ... excuse him
[Servali] hehe
Purrsia> heehee
[LT] Oh, I was wondering, Tatiana.
[ISmith7O] Yeah, speaking of Disney, their recent movies like Atlantis and the upcoming Lilo & Stitch are kinda in that vein.
[Altaica] Tygra is the best followed closely by Bengali
[Peter] The problem now is that the genius executives who run Entertainment have divided the audience into tiny segments. They've entirely forgotten (probably because they don't or can't read) that classic kids material shouldbe good enough for adults. Think about writers like Thurber, or Twain, or Kipling ... they didn't say "Oh, we're writing for kids. Let's make it dumb." they just wrote.
[Peter] Make that "tiny" segments

[Servali] understood, Peter, lol
[Quint] very true
[LT] We got it Peter. Hee. Hee.
Purrsia> good point indeed
[hyenaboy] That's because adults misunderstand kids, and think they can, understand more than teletubbies.
[hyenaboy] Some adults anyways
Purrsia> oh, you didn't say the T word Al .... lol
[hyenaboy] I did!
[Servali] gah! evil things!
[Peter] Kids are way smarter than the networks give them credit for. One reason all my stuff is now independent

[ISmith7O] Well, I'm sure they'd pay some attention to what the older fans would say, and places like Ain't it Cool News would defintiely be reporting on the development of such a show.
[hyenaboy] That's cool ?grins:

>>LadyThundera has left channel #ThundercatChat

[Altaica] What have you written lately?
[hyenaboy] What do you think your favorite ep is that you worked on? What did you enjoy the most or enjoy seeing when it was all finished?
[Peter] In what area/qenre?

Purrsia> When I write, I don't think about a target audience, I just write. If I overexamined the hows and the whys too much, i would no longer enjoy writing me thinks .... no?
[Peter] My favorite episode is probably Mumm-ra as King Arthur

[drnixon] exactly
[LT] I LOVE that one!
Purrsia> Excalibur ruled!
[hyenaboy] Ahh Excalibur. That was a pretty cool episode.
[Tatiana] Love that episode! Excalibur!
Purrsia> my second fave 'sode...The Mountain being my all time fave
[Servali] Excalibur was an awesome ep
[Peter] Yeah. It's maybe a bit slow to start ... but I was learning!

[hyenaboy] Mine is Psyche Out:grin: but then thats cuz Alluro rules.
[Servali] hehe
Purrsia> heehee
[LT] I love that one too, Purrsia.
Purrsia> my fave comic episode is the shifter ... snarf in panthro's body ... side splitting!
[hyenaboy] LOL
[Altaica] Fireballs of Plundar is my fave. >,]
[Snarfykins] I liked Trouble with Thunderkittens
[Servali] hehe
[Snarfykins] 0h, and Tower of Traps.
[Madras] Oh, who's idea was it to introduce the Lunatacs? And what was the inspiration for them?
[hyenaboy] Eh AlIuro;s better than alI of those
Purrsia> don't get me started on tower of traps....there's a certain swimming scene in that one that earns it top billing lol
[hyenaboy] Hey i asked that I think. My brains not workign so well
[Peter] Lunatacks? I can't remember- but I think it was a toy-driven idea

[hyenaboy].... but they never made any toys out of them.
[Altaica] Yeah we want toys!
Purrsia> LOL
[LT] I'm not too fond of the Lunatacs.
[hyenaboy] Be nice, Altiaca.
[Madras] Oh, because someone once speculated that they were inspired off the Rocky Horror Picture Show,:)
[Altaica]:)
[Quint] lol, that would explains Alluro's only power... "you will buy our products !"
[Peter] If I'd kept any episdoes or any scripts, I'd be able to answer much more - but I never keep anything ...

[ISmith7O] I always wondered if whover came up with them might have watched "Rocky Horr" one too manytimes!
[hyenaboy] LO L
[Servali]... which made me sad that no toys were made of the Lunatacs, lol
[hyenaboy] Thats okay, we apprciate ya trying:) I mean it was 1 years ago or more
[hyenaboy] er
[Servali] h e h e
Purrsia> One year is like forever hyena lol
Purrsia>: )
[Servali] for a Tcat fan, anyway:p
Purrsia> for me definitely lol
[hyenaboy] lol Well 16 is more forevers
[Altaica] Any idea why they never made the Feline toy even though they had the mach up?
[hyenaboy] So do you have yer kids hooked on TCats, Mr. Lawrence?
[Peter] My daughter thought I was retarded

[Tatiana] (Ammatet) hey peter who came up with mumras brainless servants
Purrsia> LOL –
[hyenaboy] LOL Oh no.
[Snarfykins] oh dear.
[Peter] No ... I'm kiddinq. She loved the stuff

Purrsia> most kids hold that opinion of their parents ... mine is 3 and already showing signs lol
[hyenaboy] Cool, she;s got taste heh heh
Purrsia> :p
Purrsia> what's not to love?
[hyenaboy] Who are Mumm-Ra's brainless servants ... ?
[Peter] It's real hard to remember exactly who came up with what. I know I came up with all the great. stuff and other people came up with all the lousy stuff. How 'bout that?

[Servali] Snarf defeating Alluro, that's what not to love.... poor Alluro :((
[hyenaboy] LOL
Purrsia> LOL
[Quint] LOL.. works for me
[Servali] LO L I 'lI accept that Pete r, IoI
[LT] The mutanats, I guess, hyenaboy
[Tatiana] sounds good to me
[hyenaboy] Hey that never happened, Servali. It was a figment of our imaginations.
[Altaica] Snarf beating anyone is a distasteful thought
[Servali] still, that figment shouldn't have happened, either, hyenaboy
[Peter] Len Starr came up with the mutants ... in the beginning ... but I don't think anyone wrote Vultureman into a script until I came alonq.

[hyenaboy] No, it shouldn’t chuckles:
[Altaica] Right along with Circus Train
[Snarfykins] Well, at least he could defend himself.
[hyenaboy] Ahhh I wondered where Vultureman had come from!

>> LadyThundera has joined channel #ThundercatChat

Purrsia> Vman didn't come in until "Lord of the Snows" which was something like episode 10 or 11 Where did Rataro come from for that matter?
[Peter] He was in the original bible. No one used him.

[LadyThundera] Here I go again. Sorry.
[hyenaboy] There should have been a hyena Mutant:: chuckles::
[ISmith7O] Speaking of Circus Train, what was William Overgaard thinking when he wrote those eps of his, Peter?
[hyenaboy] Ohhhh
[Tatiana] No wonder ... Leonard Starrwrote so many plotholes, it's unreal
[hyenaboy] He was a good write, though. I like most of his eps.
[Peter] Who knows what Bill was thiniking of?

[Altaica] Silky's Fruit?
[hyenaboy] Im thinking they needed to get rid of the current "bad guys" to make way for new ideas, and that was a convenient way to do it.
Purrsia> can ya tell most fans are perplexed by circus train, Peter? lol
[LadyThundera] LO L
[Peter] Yeah. I guess Circus Train is a puzzler. I wish I had the script. I could ien you more.

Purrsia> tygra on dopey fruit was pretty funny....
[Altaica] Poor druggie Tygra
[ISmith7O] I can only imagine Overgard just didnJ have a clue as to what the show was about. Heck, I've seen better writing on orild eps of "Lost in Space!",)
[drnixon] Iol
[hyenaboy] Well it had a WC Fields-type circus manager and his Grcouho-Marx crow friend... heh heh
[Altaica] first it's fruit then a stone
[hyenaboy] Be nice now, Laura
[Madras] What went into the decision to write out the Mutants and the Lunatacks?
[Servali] I thought it was funny in Circus Train the voice for Capt. Bragg sounded a bit like W.C. Fields and that Crownan sounded like Groucho Marx
[LadyThundera] What's the name of the episode with the oceanic plug? What is with that?
[hyenaboy] Dr Dometome
[LadyThundera] Thanks.
[hyenaboy] NP
[hyenaboy] We dont obsess or anyhting, Mr Lawrence LOL
Purrsia> obsess? ~Purrsia looks around, the picture of innocence~
[Quint] Obsession is just another form of reverance
[hyenaboy]
Purrsia> or insanity lol
[Snarfykins] :)
[Peter] Bill liked to write his own stuff. That made him tough to edit. If you didn't drag him back on track, the stars of the show would become bit players to his new inventions. he never really got it that people tuned in to see the T/Cats and Mumm-ra - not a whole new show.

[LadyThundera] Or just and understatement.
[Altaica] Yeah, just how manythings have plundar in their name, Planet Plunn-Dar, Blue Plunn-Dar, Castle Plunn-Dar, Moons of Plunn-Dar
[hyenaboy] LOL That's true. A ot of people like to do new and itneresting things. nothing abd about it really. It jus donesl't alwyas fit in with certain thigns,
[Altaica] >;]
[Tatiana](Ammatet) whats the name of the episode where liono gets his butt kicked by tygra
[hyenaboy] The moons of Plundar were ... the moons around the planbet of Plundaar. its like the moon of earth
[Peter] Listen, V'all, I'm qoinq to have to qet out of here soon ... Gotta eat. My stomach thinks my throat's cut.

[hyenaboy] LOL!
[LadyThundera] Go to sleep Ammatet!
[Servali] eek!
