Everybody Loves Mumm-Ra

Point/Counterpoint Editorials Ok, so I was relaxing in my throne one day, flipping through some of the recent Wildstorm comics and enjoying the worshipful gaze of my favorite follower Demonprist, when she heard me cackling softly over Issue #3 of The Return.

"What's so funny, O Mighty Mumm-Ra?" she asked.

"Apparently in the comics here, Wilykit never resisted me when I took her and her brother to my pyramid," I said. "Guess she must be in love with me or something."

Well, Demonprist got this snarf-in-the-headlights look on her face, and said, "But...Mumm-Ra....who WOULDN'T love you?!?"

The more I thought about it, the more I realized...she had a point!

Haven't you ever noticed there are times when imminent death approaches the Thundercats, or they're in need of something to spice up their everyday lives.....well, who should appear but little Mumm-Ra to save the day! Like the time that goofy goon Shadowmaster tried to swipe the Sword of Omens when that twit Lion-Ho entered the Book. Ok, so I needed to get rid of Shadow-baby so I'd still be the ASOE's favorite. But you know, it would've been *sooooo* easy to let Shadow's winged terror gobble up the Sword and that snarf, and then deal with the spook. Especially where Snarf was concerned, let me tell you...I SO owe him for that 'Snarf-Ra' incident....But I digress.

There are other things that give me good reason to suspect that those Blundercats have a soft spot in their hearts (as they should) for yours truly. Especially a certain cheetah, heh heh. We got along pretty well during the whole Pumm-Ra thing, and you'll notice that on several occasions I was much more gentlemanly with her than I ordinarily would've been had it been any other Thunderian. Like the time when I was just about to learn how to Doomgaze people - I invited Cheetara to join the fun, but of course Ta-she had to butt in and make her jealous enough to turn me down. (Not even time-warping princesses can resist my immortal charms, you know.)

Then there was the time I was watching Cheetara in my cauldron and noticed that she was having some trouble dealing with the Book of Omens after that fool lion got himself sucked into it (the punk takes advice from a snarf and a ghost, what more can you expect?). So I, feeling in a charitable (and lion-homicidal) mood that day, thought I'd pop into the lair and offer to take care of the whole problem for her. I even asked her nicely! But I think she was still kind of in shock from the whole ordeal, not to mention the pleasant surprise of having 'ol Mumm-Ra come to the rescue on top of that, because her old habits kicked in and she declined. Ah well. Remember, I'm ever-living, so there's always a next time, heh heh heh!

Yep, if it wasn't for me, those 'Cats would have absolutely no fun in their lives. They've even admitted as such - 'boy, that Mumm-Ra made us look pretty feeble, we'll never underestimate him again!' Face it, Wunder-kitties: YOU AIN'T *NEVER* GETTIN' RID OF ME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!

Ahhh...it's good to be loved, even if that love is sometimes spiked with episodes involving attempts to toast me with the Star of Thundera, chucking my sarcophagus into the cauldron, or dumping me inside that horrid Book of Omens. But like I said, I'm ever-living, there's time enough for me to teach them the error of their ways. Heh heh heh.
